Before You Open a Pilates Studio

Uncategorized Mar 21, 2020

You have recently become a certified Pilates instructor and you can’t wait to open your own studio. Before you open your Pilates Studio, there are a few important questions that you will need to ask yourself. Why do I want to open a Pilates studio?

What is your goal?

Are you clear about what you would like your business to offer? How about what would you like your business to represent?  Your next step would be to write a business plan so you can make plans and projections.  It is great to have a business plan as a reminder as down the road people forget why they started a business in the first place.

Have you found your perfect location?

This is an important factor because the location can make or break the success of your studio. One option is to rent a building or space for your studio. This is probably the most ideal option but bear in mind that you might find it hard to obtain the clients.

Another option is to rent a space inside an existing wellness center, health or fitness club. Renting space with an already existing club or center will help your Pilates studio become established and may attract more clientele.

Private sessions or Group classes?

The amount of space you need depends on what you would like your business to offer. Are you the only one teaching at your studio? Are you planning to teach group private classes?

If you are an option to offer private sessions at the start you may need to purchase only a few pieces of equipment and therefore you will need a smaller space but if you do an option to teach group classes than you will need to purchase more equipment there you will require a larger space.

One of the greatest resources a future Pilates studio owner is someone to help and guide you through this journey.
